When Reiki meets Hypnotherapy...and a broken leg

When Reiki meets Hypnotherapy...and a broken leg

Q & A with the beautiful MRC Reiki Practitioner Kirsty Osborne

What brought you to learn the System of Reiki?

I commenced my study of the Reiki in 2016, with the intention of learning  some techniques to complement my studies of Hypnonergetics – an energy based form of Hypnotherapy. I could immediately appreciate all that Reiki has to offer me professionally and personally and welcomingly embraced its daily practice after completing Reiki I – Shoden.  I very potently experienced the healing power of Reiki in a very real and dramatic... My Journey with Reiki - by Eliza Revell

My Journey with Reiki - by Eliza Revell
I have been learning reiki for a little over a year, but I’ve been aware of the practice of             reiki since a young age as my mother practiced reiki and shared her practice with me as a child.     The practice of reiki brings a subtle knowing and awareness into my daily life. There is an  intrinsic knowing that no matter what difficult situations I find myself in, I have an inner resource to tap into so that I can ground and centre. It helps me to check in with myself and be mindful in my every day life. The precepts are always in the... Read more...

Meditation Cushion & The Dentist Chair

Meditation Cushion & The Dentist Chair
Why do we meditate? So it can infuse our daily life. Well that sounds great, but what does this look like when we are beginning? A student recently shared how they used a mantra we had been chanting in their mediation sessions in a different context, the context of their daily life and it illustrates the beauty and power of regular practice.   The student was at the dentist, to have some drilling done  - I know not the most desirable moment for anyone so lots of compassion here - as she sat down she said to the dentist "I'm going to do some meditation... How are you showing up?

How are you showing up?
Yesterday I popped into Fitzroy for a late lunch at Smith & Deli, it was delicious. I'm dreaming of their lemon tart as I type. Sooo delicious. However that is the side note to this sweet story.   After this lunch I had some time left on the car meter so I popped into a store that had caught my eye when I parked. In the store, tried a few clothing items on, just for fun as you do, and chatted with other customers who were also trying on items. In fact another customer kept wanting me to try on so much, she was so in love the with clothes she started finding ones... Read more...

Is a Hands on Healing treatment the only way to offer Reiki?

Many students who have various employment situations from Nurses, people who work in Offices, Teachers, Carers, medical specialists such as Osteopath or Physiotherapist and Massage therapists often mention that they can not do 'hands on healing' in the workplace like we do in class as it would not be seen as appropriate. And the question is then asked, how then can I use Reiki? Hands on healing is one aspect of the practice of Reiki. If you meditate at home and you feel happier, less worry, less stress, less anger or frustration,... Read more...

The Foundation of Reiki

The System of Reiki, to summarise it to a core experience, is a way of meditating to help oneself become more grounded, centered and open with the ultimate purpose of connecting to ones true self. Rediscovering ones true self through practices within the System of Reiki that support your body, your mind and your spirit (also known as speech or energy). The system of Reiki has a 'foundation of practice' that goes beyond the Hands on Healing most people associate it. It is a deep Spiritual & Healing that you can experience when following the Practice of Reiki.  This... Read more...

What happens at a Reiki Share Practice Evening?

Reiki Shares, also known as student practice evenings, are a beautiful opportunity for students to come together and practice Reiki together in a group setting with their teacher. When we practice in a group setting it is like the sound of a huge singing bowl being rung. There is this amazing resonance of of the practice that envelopes you and feels like it goes on and on. When we practice Reiki in a group together we are all metaphorically 'singing' together and this makes for one great connection of energy which can then go on afterwards and... Read more...

Why meditate?

Why meditate?
Many of us live busy lives and we can end up training our head brain to keep thinking beyond what is needed. This pattern grows and grows and we can hear ourselves and others saying, "I can't seem to shut off my thoughts"... or "My head just feels so busy".This constant stream of thoughts is a learned pattern and what Meditation offers is a way to help us see this pattern, realise we are not these thoughts, that we can observe the thoughts without following them and then find that space between the thoughts and breathe that into our soul. Finding Peace, Clarity, Quiet, Joy.The... Read more...

Mindfulness Practice & Reiki with Young Children

I have many Reiki students who have young children (pre-school age to early years of primary) and after the course they are keen but not sure how to integrate the learnings of meditation and hands on healing into their family home life and ask me for ideas. I have held off popping some of these ideas into a blog post as I generally ask people share a little about what their children like doing and what they do as a family and then suggest ways to bring it into their day naturally. So as you read, please do this, think about your family, what... Read more...
